They came for different reasons. Some came to find treasure. Some came to find freedom. Others came to find new possibilities. A Spanish vessel commissioned by the King of Portugal headed out on it's months long journey to the recently discovered New World. Many made the voyage, many died in transit but there was one like no other. He was the representative of the king himself. And as the representative his words had a special significance, and his writings were met with the utmost anticipation.  His name was Amerigo Vespucci. An observer who reported directly to the King. So to honor Amerigo as well as the king the new lands were named after him. The Americas soon came to be synonymous with hope, freedom and opportunity. Amerigo pens combine the elegance and tradition of the Old World with the technology and promise of the New World.
